Event Description
Advanced drone technology for surveys and GIS mapping
1 Self Reported Learning Unit
Course Description
We will hear from two experts in advanced drone mapping who utilize data generated for GIS data systems and site specific surveys, whether for pre-design services or for construction progress photography, and everything in between.
Dr Allison Bailey, Associate Professor, University of North Georgia’s Lewis Rogers Institute for Environmental and Spatial Analysis.
Mr Bradley Kruse, UAV Pilot and LiDAR Technician, Georgia Land Surveying (sponsor).
Small sophisticated drones equipped with a custom camera and flown remotely are in the headlines for all manner of applications. We will cover how this equipment and its software technology have become essentials for the work of professional designers, especially Architects, Landscape Architects and Land Planners.
The event is scheduled for October 18, 2018 in the 2nd floor private meeting room of Olde Towne Tavern and Grill in Lawrenceville, GA. We will gather at 5:30 pm for a mixer and follow it up with a meal and a presentation which will end around 8:00 pm. Each attendee will be responsible for their own meals, beverages and desserts ordered from the restaurant’s menu. We are looking into an alternative of a buffet directly outside of the meeting room.
